With so many parents worrying about the anxiety and stress in their kids’ lives, health screenings for children could be quite helpful to ease their worries. If your child is experiencing too much stress and anxiety, it could be harmful and can certainly affect their lives. Kids that worry all the time may have an anxiety disorder.

There are several symptoms that children may show when suffering from too much anxiety, which is also known as GAD, Generalized Anxiety Disorder. Some symptoms are repetitive behaviors such as hair pulling, nail biting, skin biting, nose picking and skin picking, as well as other type of behavior that isn’t normal.

OCD, Obsessive-compulsive disorder can also manifest itself with common obsessions such as an extensive need for precision and order, fear of germs or dirt, fears of illness, religious obsessions and intrusive words or sounds. They can also include repetitive hand washing, teeth brushing, constant checking of homework or even light switches, counting constantly and several others.

Panic disorder, PTSD, Post-traumatic stress disorder may also occur with children. Separation and social anxiety disorder can also be problematic and cause kids to worry about embarrassment or being judged negatively.

Certain phobias other than the usual types such as heights, dogs or insects also may indicate a situation that is not in the control of the child.

If falling asleep, frequent urination or fears of being alone are an issue, an appointment could be necessary for your child. Adverse school behaviors could include squirming, avoiding group work, not doing homework, disrupting the class and other situations may also indicate a need for an appointment.
